Pak vs SA T20 WC 1st SF Result - Pakistan in Final of T20 WC, beat South Africa by 7 runs
In a thrilling 1st semifinal match of 2009 ICC Twenty20 World Cup, Pakistan beat title favorite South Africa by 7 runs to reach the 2nd consecutive final of T20 World Cup on Thursday, 18th June, 2009 at Nottingham, Trent Bridge . Pak made 149/4 in 20 overs and SA scored 142/5 in 20 overs.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat 1st reduced to 28/2 but a 67 runs 3rd wicket partnership between Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik contributed 51 runs off 34 balls with 8 fours and 34 runs respectively helped them to reach a respectable total of 149/4 in 20 overs.
In reply South Africa started well but 2 quick wickets by Shahid Afridi, took 2 wickets for just 16 runs in 4 overs sent back them on back foot. Kallis scored fighting 64 runs off 54 balls and in the end JP Duminy unbeaten 40 runs but not enough to clinch the match.
